Economically disadvantaged students are the percentage of students who are directly certified for the National School Lunch Program through one of the following ways:

  • Lives in a family unit receiving SNAP (food stamp) benefits
  • Lives in a family unit receiving TANF benefits
  • Identified as homeless
  • Identified as foster*, or
  • Identified as migrant.
* The 2021 direct certification counts do not include foster students.
